This was a really fun project!! Well...kinda!!

If you have ever used Canva before, you should know how simple and easy it is to use. Perhaps I need to use the word "should" more cautiously. I HOPE it is simple and easy for you. Right?

A few weeks ago, I was tasked with making a poster for this short film. I looked up some old movie posters for inspiration - Oooh, this one, i thought to myself. Africa Texas Style!!

I loved the blue and orange on this one and the placement of the image and text. All of it was cool to me, so i gave it a go.

I looked through the images i had taken that day on an Osmo Pocket 3 and looked for something usable. Finally, i did. A picture of Wyatt sitting in the grass. Perfect "To Sit With You" that should do.

So I put a little something together. I liked how it looked photo galleryesk. That being said, when i showed it to the group, there wasn't much enthusiasm coming from them, nor from me, really.

What took me hours to make by myself, with the whole team together, took us 10 minutes.

Why? Advice, suggestion. The classic "ooo i like that" or this "did you try". All of a sudden, you have

150 drafts, but you see the progress clearly, and you land in a project everyone is content with. So, here is what we made: Different vibe for sure!! But we all love it.

The green, the superposing of the image over the text, and the huge font... This is where things got really tricky for me. Having had the poster finalised and signed off by everyone, I wanted to post it as a grad on our Instagram.

Simple right? NOPE!! I used Gemini to help figure out how to fit this lil guy into 9 equal parts, but it proved very difficult. I used all sorts of apps to spit the image, but every time i put it into Instagram, it wouldn't line up perfectly. The radios weren't adding up to the standard Instagram post size. I spent over two hours cropping and changing things... Then it hit me.

Instagram changed its grid to have "invisible gaps", and the only way to spit an image that accounts for these gaps is to pay for an app that does it - BRUHHH

@this point, i was so tired of fiddling around with these images that I caved and paid the $1.32.

I'm not too sure if it was worth it -

You tell us!!

Worth it ??

  • YESSS!!

  • Heck no - that's 1/3 of a Double-Double 🍟
